Repost: ‘Ghana to India: The Selvedge of Two Textile Cultures’ Join @jas_bhachu and myself for a conversation, which will explore the spiritual, symbolic, ornate and rich textile cultures of our two heritages. We did an MA in Textile Design together and she carries a wealth of knowledge about cotton and its fascinating socio-political and economic history. I’m so so excited for Jas to be joining me; she’s an incredible illustrator and an equally brilliant digital designer. She’s worked with brands such as John Lewis, Toyota, Hyundai, Pirelli, Aston Martin, and AMWA Designs. Together we’ll explore the commonalities and differences between Ghana and India’s textile cultures - and the conflicted truths. We’ll address the implications of cheap Chinese counterfeits, fast fashion and the second hand clothing industry and their impacts on the environment. It’s going to COLOURFUL.
